It is very heavily publicized that Arsenal need to sign a striker. With Kai Havertz incapable finishing high xG chances and their main goalscoring threat, Saka, being injured, Arsenal desperately need an attacking player to give them a boost in the title race.

Many Arsenal fans seem to want a new striker this January window. However, there is a lack of strong striker options on the market at the moment. With Cunha being the most talked about player being linked to Arsenal, this demonstrates how desperate Arsenal really are. Cunha isn’t an out-in-out striker, as he fits more of an offensive midfielder role, he would however be perfect in the left channel for Arsenal. The other player being linked to Arsenal is Sesko who would be a perfect signing for Arsenal. However, it is very unlikely RB Leipzig would get rid of him this window. Arsenal would have a better chance of signing the 21 year old Serb in the summer and for much cheaper than the reported $80 million.

With this lack of striker options, Arsenal needs to find an alternative. With Saka currently injured and out for another month to month and a half, Arsenal need another right winger. Sterling is clearly not good enough and Nwaneri is not experienced enough, so what if Arsenal find a right winger this January, who could also fit in as a striker if needed. In fact, I believe I found the answer to Arsenal’s problems and his name is Maghnes Akliouche. Akliouche is a 22 year old French right winger who currently play for AS Monaco in Ligue 1. He fits the Arsenal profile of a right winger, as he his left footed and young. This season Akliouche has been a standout performer for AS Monaco scoring 3 goals and assisting 5 in Ligue 1 and scoring 2 and assisting 1 in 7 appearances in the Europa League. He is a very tricky winger who loves to take on his man and with an eye for a pass . His underlying numbers are also fantastic as he ranks in the 89th percentile in progressive passes and the 92nd percentile for carries into the final third for players in the top 5 leagues. Alongside, his strong on the ball abilities Akliouche thrives defensively, which is vital in a high-pressing Arsenal system. In fact, Akliouche is in the 89th percentile for both tackles and interceptions for wingers in the top 5 leagues and in the 96th percentile for ball recoveries with 5.56 per 90.

With a staggering low amount of striker options on the market for Arsenal this January transfer window, Arsenal should gear their attention to a right winger who could cover for Saka during his absence but could be a back-up to him when Saka s back and could fill in as a striker when needed.
